Aboriginals of Australia have traditionally been decorating their bodies and faces for tribal celebrations and occasions called Corroboree, with body paints.
To make the paint, Aboriginal people used Ochre, Charcoal, animal fat and pigments extracted from leaves and flowers.
Patterns differ for different ceremonies and tribes. Men's body paint patterns are different from women's.
Some of Aboriginal artists who portray body painting in their art are Gloria Petyarre, Minnie Pwerle, Betty Mbitjana, Nora Napanangka, Emily Pwerle, Anna Pitjara, Narpula Napurrula, etc...
Below images show a few different styles of body paint.
