Rosemary Petyarre (Pitjara)
Rosemary Petyarre (Pitjara) was born in 1945 at Boundary Bore, Utopia, Northern Territory. Like other aboriginal artists of that time she was involved in making batik in Utopia, and in 1988 she commenced painting with acrylic on canvas. Rosemary incorporates traditional iconography and natural elements in her paintings. She uses viberant colours in her painting.
Rosemary Petyarre (Pitjara) is sister of famous Greeny Purvis Petyarre, Jeannie Petyarre and Evelyn Pultara (half sister). Her aunt, the great Emily Kame Kngwarreye passed the dreaming of Medicine Leaves (Yam Leaves) and Yam Seeds to her and Jeannie.
