Margaret Scobie Napangardi was born around 1948 at Woola Downs, Northern Territory. She is an Anmatyerre woman and has family connections to the Petyarre sisters Gloria Petyarre, Ada Bird Petyarre, Kathleen Petyarre, Myrtle Petyarre, Violet Petyarre and Nancy Petyarre, all accomplished artists from Utopia (Central Australia).

Her dreaming are: Bush Leaf Medicines (this is the title she writes on the back of all her paintings which depicts Yam plant), Honey Ants and Bush Tuckers.
Despite her excellent techniques and talent, she has been focusing on her granddaughter's education and family coordination.

Margaret Scobie Napangardi is one of the elders of her community.
