Jeannie Petyarre (Pitjara)
Jeannie Petyarre (Pitjara) was born in 1951 at Boundary Bore, Northern Territory. She is from a very artistic family and her great aunt Emily Kame kngwarreye (deceased) taught her to paint her family's dreamings. She is also the sister of famous artists Greeny Purvis Petyarre (deceased), and Rosemary Petyarre.
Jeannie Petyarre (Pitjara) cousins, Ada Bird Petyarre (deceased), Kathleen Petyarre and Gloria Petyarre are internationally known artists. She is married to Henry Long Kemarre.
Like most women aboriginal artists, Jeannie Petyarre (Pitjara) started her artwork by making batik. Later on in early 1980s she began painting with acrylic on canvas.
Jeannie Petyarre's dreaming includes, Bush Medicine Leaves, Bush Seeds, Wild Flower and Mountain Devil Lizard.
