Cindy Wallace Nungarrayi was born in 1978 in Santa Teresa, Northern Territory.

She is married to late Ada Bird Petyarre's son, Stephen Bird. Cindy is from Arrernte tribe. She is the niece of Kathleen Petyarre and Gloria Petyarre.

Cindy Wallace Nungarrayi has been painting her country's story since she was very young. Her dreamings include Women's Ceremonies and Body Painting.

Cindy and her sister Colleen Wallace learnt how to paint from their aunt Kathleen Wallace, a renowned indigenous artist and elder in Santa Teresa.
