Carmen Jones Petyarre was born in 1984 in Utopia, Northern Territory. She is from Alyawarre Tribe. Carmen, her husband and children live in Utopia. Her mother is Susan Pula Chalmers and her father is Larry Kngwarreye Jones (deceased).

Carmen Jones Petyarre is a talented young aboriginal artist and like other aboriginal women, she is a food gatherer and likes to pass the lessons that she learned from her mother about bush food to the next generation by painting them. Her Dreamings are Wild Onion (yalka), Onion grass and white flowers. She also paints women's body paint design.
