Ben Appeleto was born in Mt Isa and grew up in Brisbane. He is a descendant of the Yuggera tribe located between Brisbane and the Gold Coast (QLD).
Ben is able to combine his love for airbrushing to create an effective eye catching combination of media's, which distinguish him from other artists. His art takes on themes of hunting and gathering, and he finds inspiration for his drawings mainly from the Australian landscape of flora and fauna.
"I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil" says Ben. He feels that process of creating Aboriginal artwork into different mediums like Didgeridoo and canvas helps him rediscover his heritage and hopes that his artwork is pleasing to people and helps them relate to Aboriginal culture.
In Karlangu Aboriginal Art Centre we carry some of high quality didgeridoos by Ben.
